What is Dudley Academies Trust?
Dudley Academies Trust (DAT) was established in September 2017 and is made up of four partner schools: Beacon Hill Academy (previously High Arcal School), Pegasus Academy (previously Holly Hall Academy), St James Academy (previously Castle High School) and The Link Academy (previously Hillcrest School and Community College). All of the schools are based within the Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands.
Dudley College of Technology sponsors the Academy. The College is a well-established general further education college rated as an Ofsted outstanding college at its latest inspection in July 2017.
The DAT has a Chief Executive, Jo Higgins, who reports to a Board of Trustees, which makes the strategic decisions about the work of the Academy.
Jo comes to the West Midlands after a career in school leadership in South Yorkshire where she has led Penistone Grammar School for the past ten years. Jo has also contributed to the borough wide school improvement system in Barnsley and she has led the application process for a cross phase MAT of eleven schools.
Born in West Bromwich, Jo is looking forward to returning to the region and helping to build the success of the Trust with the schools' Headteachers. As a school leader all Jo's actions are motivated by the conviction that all young people should be able to access outstanding provision, irrespective of their starting point in life. As part of her previous work she has driven rapid school improvement, and will bring this experience to help strengthen each school's performance.
