Consultation for Alternative Provision at Pegasus Academy

Consultation Process: Dudley Academies Trust’s Application to the Department of Education to make a significant change to Pegasus Academy – the establishment of an Alternative Provision (AP)Base.

I write to invite you to engage in a formal consultation process about our proposal to locate an AP Base at Pegasus Academy. This has been approved by the Local Authority.

The Pegasus AP will serve the four secondary schools in our Trust. It will be separate from the main school with its own separate entrance, specialist facilities and staffing. It is anticipated that the capacity of the Pegasus AP will be for approximately 40 to 50 learners. Key Stage 3 places will be mainly six to twelve week ‘turnaround’ placements and some learners in Key Stage 4 will be based in the AP permanently benefitting from some high-quality vocational programmes provided by our sponsor, Dudley College of Technology.

The Trust has an ambition to commission twenty places from the Local Authority within the total number of places at the Alternative Provision. This would be at some point in the future.

The consultation process will run from Friday 28th June to Friday 19th July 2024. If you have any questions or would like to express your opinion, please contact us via the following:

  • Email: [email protected].
  • Telephone: 01384 882388.
  • In writing: The Drawbridge, Unit 2, Castle Court, Castlegate Way, Dudley, DY1 4RD.
  • In person: There will also be a drop in session to provide an opportunity to ask any questions about the proposed provision. This will take place at the Trust offices on Tuesday 16th July from 13:00 to 17:00.

Following this consultation process, an application will then be submitted to the Department for Education.

Below are the communications which have been shared with parents and carers and Secondary Headteachers.
